Steve Sundberg - Aurora Advocate and City Councilman

Since his election to the City of Aurora Council in 2021, Steve Sundberg has promoted policies and legislation that boost the city’s economic vitality. In addition to advocating for local economic growth, Steve Sundberg serves the residents of Aurora, addressing their concerns and establishing transparency in government.

Mr. Sundberg participates in shaping city policy, the budget, and resident issues. He collaborates with other council members, city departments, and the community at-large to oversee city services and guide planning. His responsibilities also involve working with city departments and regional partners to establish and deploy initiatives that support housing infrastructure and public safety.

Mr. Sundberg has at one time or another served on various public safety, planning, and water policy council committees. He also represents the city at regional board meetings like the Aerotropolis Regional Transportation Authority, Mile High Flood District, and the Cherry Creek Basin Water Quality Authority. Mr. Sundberg has extensive experience in reviewing ordinances, zoning, and municipal law.

Some of the policy and legislation he has advocated for since entering office includes support for the new Acute Care Campus at Aurora Mental Health. He has overseen connecting critical stakeholders to work together on a project that would bring the city long-term water security. Finally, he has supported policies that bring affordable housing and infrastructure investments to Ward II.

Outside of serving as councilman, Mr. Sundberg is a member of the Colorado Restaurant Association. The Aurora business community has recognized him, giving him the 2015 Chamber of Commerce Leadership Award and the 2024 Small Business of the Year Award.
